Bob Bales
Bob Bales, CEO

Bob is a serial entrepreneur with over 30 years of business and IT experience. After a variety of technical and managerial positions, Bob co-founded the National Computer Security Association with David Stang in 1989. As President and COO of NCSA, he helped grow the organization to 100+ employees. TruSecure evolved into CyberTrust, which was acquired by Verizon in 2007. In July 2000, Bob co-founded PestPatrol, the first commercial anti-Spyware company. Bob managed the growth of PestPatrol to 72 employees, a revenue run rate of $16M, and oversaw the sale of PestPatrol to Computer Associates in August 2004. In February 2006, Bob joined Roger Thompson and Greg Mosher to co-found Exploit Prevention Labs, and become the Company’s CEO and President. Bob oversaw the sale of XPL to AVG in December 2007.

   
John Sancin
John Sancin, President and COO

John Sancin has over 30 years of technical expertise and marketing experience, having started his career at Digital Equipment Corporation (now HP) in 1972. He left Digital to join Electronic Engineering Co, later acquired by Norstan, where he served as vice president of marketing. In 1991 John turned to the security arena when he joined Certus International, one of the early anti-virus companies where he served first as vice president of sales and marketing and later as president. The company was purchased by Symantec. John then formed his own company, Market.al, to provide businesses with marketing services ranging from building strategic plans to developing marketing programs and supporting material. Market.Al was sold to Shamrock Companies in January of 2004. John then joined PestPatrol, an anti-spyware company, where he served as the company's chief operating officer. Later john served as president and chief operating officer at Passfaces, an authentication company.

   
Chris Overton
Chris Overton, VP Research and Development

Chris has 10 years of experience in developing successful commercial software. His work as lead architect for PestPatrol's Anti-Spyware SDK and Version 5.x Consumer products was a key factor in PestPatrol's success. With years of experience in Anti-Malware product development and research, Chris has worked with some of the largest companies in the world to deliver industry leading computer security solutions. More recently, he has served as a software architect at Computer Associates where he led the effort to develop CA's next generation Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus SDKs. He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, with a Master's Degree in Computer Science.

   
Barb Rose
Barb Rose, VP Marketing

Barb has more than 15 years experience in high tech public relations and marketing. At ICSA, later known as TruSecure, the leading Internet Security provider she drove the company's public relations efforts from 1994-2000. Her efforts grew awareness of the organization through top level story placement, press and analyst tours, and by securing high level speaking opportunities for executives and through planning of successful thought leadership programs. Barb has held senior marketing and public relations positions with advertising agencies and later at PestPatrol, an anti-spyware software vendor. Barb’s experience and knowledge was key to the successful growth, and later acquisition of PestPatrol. Having been successful working in start-ups, taking them to the next level, she was employed as a marketing manager for Computer Associates, Int., Inc. She later joined Passfaces, an authentication company as VP of Marketing. She currently is VP of Marketing for CyberPatrol, a parental control software company.

   
Bob Kessinger
Bob Kessinger, VP of Operations

Bob Kessinger has more than 10 years of experience in technology development and business marketing. Bob worked for Corporate Software & Technology, one of the nation’s largest software resellers, as an Electronic Commerce Program Manager where he worked with online development teams to create marketing programs and deliver Web-based products and services. He later joined Dell Computer Corporation as an online product manager working with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and higher-education customers to develop integrated, online procurement systems. He then joined SurfControl overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CyberPatrol unit and managed the development of client-based Internet access management software for consumer and education markets. Bob is a noted resource on child Internet safety issues and speaks frequently to parent groups and educational audiences on how to optimize safe and educational Internet experiences for children while minimizing risks. Bob holds an MBA and a Masters in Communications from Boston University and received his BS in Finance and Investment from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Vincent J. Schiavone

Vince is a technology guru with 25 years of experience in Internet commerce, privacy, security, mobile technology and healthcare. A recognized industry expert, Vincent has been instrumental in changing the way people deal with all aspects of computer security. He has founded and lead ePrivacy Group, TurnTide, InfoSec Labs, The Acentio Group, and currently serves on the board of CyberPatrol. He was instrumental in the forming of the International Computer Security Association, a founding board member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, has co-authored the Trusted Email Open Standard and presented it at FTC SPAM summit. Vincent has written and lectured on technology, the Internet, e-commerce, security and privacy. He is married, a father of two and lives in the Philadelphia area.

Charles C. Pearson, Jr.

Chuck Pearson is a retired commercial banker and private investor.  He was Chairman of the Board and CEO of Waypoint Financial, a $5 billion bank sold to Santander Bank in 2005.  He was also a Director and CEO of United Federal Bank, a $1 billion bank sold to PNC Bank in 1995.  He held executive positions at Hamilton, PNC, and Mellon banks earlier in his career.

He is a director of Tower Bancorp, Nano Horizons, ETravco and CyberPatrol companies. Chuck is a director of the Second Mile and was formerly on the boards of WITF, Harrisburg and Mainline YMCAs and the Pennsylvania Bankers Association.  He also was Chairman of the Boards of the Greater Harrisburg United Way, State College Chamber of Commerce and Pennsylvania Centre Stage. In addition, he served on the Thrift Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank and is a Trustee Emeritus of Juniata College.

A 1961 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, he earned his MBA degree from the Wharton School in 1966.  Following college, he served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy on board a destroyer in the Pacific Fleet.

 
Mary C. Vovakes

Mary C. Vovakes has responsibilities at Penn Venture Partners managing a $6 million operational grant program that covers a 34-county area in Central and Northern Pennsylvania. She oversees a portfolio of operational improvement projects in the software, manufacturing, automotive, and publishing industries. Also, she serves as the Penn Venture Partners’ representative on the Board of Directors of eTravCo.

Mary is an operations improvement professional with 20 years experience in consulting and financial services. Prior to joining Penn Venture Partners, she was a Manager at Keane Consulting Group (KCG), a Chicago based operations consulting firm. While there, Ms. Vovakes' clientele included Fortune 1000 companies and her work focused on improving business processes through technology solutions and strategies across a wide range of industries. Her experience includes, project management, facilitation, implementation planning, information technology assessment, and staff training and development.

Ms. Vovakes began her professional career in the financial services industry first at PaineWebber, Inc. (now UBS) and later at Credit Suisse First Boston working with high net worth individuals. She received her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from Loyola University in Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Albion College.
